Your words are inspiring - in these very tough times, we must find some way to keep things in perspective for our families, demand the best from those with governmental and economic power, and contine to offer each person we meet the respect and encouragement we all deserve.

Excellent post. I had thought that the recession, the world cup campaign and the weather did seem to resonate with each other. You expressed it very well.

The Irish rugby team isn't doing too badly! :-)
It's funny, the first time Ireland got to the soccer world cup was the beginning of a massive period of growth and confidence in the Irish economy. It's a pity Ireland haven't reached SA as being in the world cup would have distracted the nation from its arguments about the budget and financial situation and would have given us all something to look forward to. I hope not qualifying isn't a harbringer for continuing (or more extended than it would have been) economic hardship!
