Festival Fiesta!

Sean and I have been talking about what we’re going to do for the Food Festival in October. Last year, we took out all of our regular ice creams and did 16 shades of chocolate. We’re thinking this year we might go with 16 Mexican flavours. It is, after all, the home of both chocolate and vanilla, and there are all sorts of tasty treats such as cajeta. I’m thinking a tequila and lime sorbet, Aztec chocolate, and perhaps a guacamole ice cream served with tortilla chips. That’s just for starters… Any ideas welcome!

  1. We are finally getting back to Dingle, but a bit before the festival. We would be happy to act as testers for any flavor you come up with during the week of the 22nd of September! Even if we can’t be testers , we are so looking forward to coming into the shop in Dingle for coffee and ice cream! Been reading the blog for ages, and we now finally get to visit. I loved how the shop even showed up in the Bibeanna book, and it was one of my favorite people sitting there – a double bonus. (Still waiting for the series in the States, here’s hoping it will show up on PBS sometime.)

    See you soon!

  2. When I see these pictures of you smiling so broadly, I always think, “I bet he smiled like that when he was little”….you look like a kid in a candy shop (or maybe an icecream shop)! It’s nice to see people doing what they love!

  3. Monica – yes, this is the second year, and we’re not planning on stopping! Sheila – hope to meet you and that you have a great time, and thanks Darlene!

  4. Holler if you need any extra supplies from the Mission…

Had a great dessert a while back which might inspire some ideas: coconut tapioca with lime sorbet and a cilantro syrup.

Other thoughts: Mole, horchata, agua fresca sorbets (maybe Neapolitan style w/ 3 flavors?). Mango sorbet sprinkled with chile powder & salt, tomatillo, sweet corn, chocolate swirled with cajeta or dulce de leche. Churro profiteroles. Pepitas brittle.
