I’m a big marzipan fan and remember with pain the day when they removed the dark chocolate coated marzipan sweet from the Roses selection – but this could indeed make up for it!

I’ve been looking for a good use of the leftover almond meal I get when chopping almonds for “English” toffee as it is known here in the states. I’m not a fan of store-bought marzipan but this looks and sounds great, especially the dipping in chocolate (that always seems to make things better). I just threw out a 2 pound bag last month that was leftover after chopping 10 pounds of almonds. I’ll have to give this a try next winter when I do my annual candymaking marathon.

Oh yes… and on the flavouring try adding a few drops of almond extract… usually gives it a nice punch!

What a great post! Fresh marzipan is so easy to make and the taste is SO much better. I don’t think people realise this. I always make it for my Christmas cakes. Delish!
